Alimos Marina in Athens is the largest charter base in the country and the natural start for the Saronic Gulf — Aegina, Poros, Hydra and Spetses, all short legs with protected overnight moorings. It is the calmest option in July and August, when the Cyclades sees force 6 to 7 for days at a time.
For the Ionian, Lefkas and Corfu offer flat water and afternoon breezes: the standard recommendation for families and first bareboat weeks. The Cyclades and the Dodecanese suit experienced skippers who want real sailing and are comfortable with a strong reefed passage.
Greek charters carry a few local specifics: a cruising tax (TEPAI) paid per day, VAT at 24% on the charter fee, and a mandatory skipper for anyone without an ICC or equivalent. All of it appears itemised in the offer, not at the pontoon.
