Sailing from Split
Split is the busiest charter hub in Croatia and the easiest to fly into. From ACI Split or Kaštela you can be anchored off Brač the same afternoon, with Hvar, Vis and Korčula shaping a natural week-long loop.
Getting to Split
Split airport (SPU) is 25 minutes from Marina Kaštela and 35 from ACI Split, with direct summer flights from Stockholm, Gothenburg, Copenhagen, Oslo and Helsinki. Crews arriving late on Friday usually sleep in Trogir or Kaštela rather than in the old town.
Wind, sea and season
Central Dalmatia gets a reliable north-westerly maestral from late morning, building through the afternoon to 12–20 knots — ideal reaching along the Brač and Hvar channels. The Hvar channel funnels wind, so reefing early on the way to Vis is normal practice.

- How much does a yacht charter from Split cost?
- Prices on our Split listings are live from the fleets and vary by boat and week. As a guide, a mid-size bareboat monohull is at the lower end of the range in June and September and at its highest in the last two weeks of July and the first two of August; catamarans sit roughly two to three times a comparable monohull.
- Do I need a skipper licence to charter from Split?
- For bareboat charter one person on the crew list must hold a sailing licence recognised in Croatia plus a VHF radio certificate. Scandinavian Förarintyg/Kustskepparintyg and equivalent certificates are accepted. If nobody holds one, we add a licensed local skipper.
- Split or Trogir — which base is better?
- Trogir is closer to the airport and quieter for a late Friday arrival; Split gives you a larger fleet, easier provisioning and a slightly shorter first leg to Brač. Sailing distances for the week are effectively the same.
- When is the best time to charter from Split?
- June and September have the steadiest wind, warm water and noticeably lower prices. July and August are hot and busy, with marinas in Hvar and Vis full by mid-afternoon.
